A view from my Sisters windows

Federal Hill

Images of Downtown Baltimore, the Inner Harbor, Federal Hill, I could see all of this very clear from my sisters window. I woke up this morning around 6am and there was a haze over the The Baltimore skyline. Tho I left over 10 years ago and maybe its because I dont get home that much so that whenever I do, I Love to get a glimpse of the city from the bus or train. Some people dont really get Baltimore and thats fine with me, But trust me all you need is one visit and the right person to take you around and you will fall in love with our Charm.

Beautiful Pictures of Our People

I am a huge lover of black and white photos and as I walked through Barnes and Noble after taking myself on a date to the movies, that's right i said it, a date. I was suddenly stopped dead in my tracks when I saw the cover of the book you see above. It's Posing Beauty by Deborah Wills. The model on the cover is Susan Taylor longtime Editor and driving force behind Essence Magazine(Love the Bald head and hoops). It's a collection of Black and white photos of African American Images from the 1890's to the Present.

As I flipped through it I was so happy that I finally had in my hands a collection of some of my favorite photos and some I had never seen before. I bought it instantly. I Recently went to Deborah's book signing per the suggestion of a friend and was blown away by her outlook on her start in the business, her take on photography and the wealth of information that I went home with about the different artist featured in her book. If your looking for a wonderful gift for a photography lover this may just be it, or go out I and get it for yourself.

West African Dance Class in Downtown Brooklyn

Since the closure of Djoniba Dance and Drum School which is to reopen sometime in January. It's been very hard to find a really good African dance class that works with my schedule. Well look no further I've found the place. Come to Brooklyn and take West African with Ismael Kouyate at the Mark Morris Dance center in downtown Brooklyn. I took the Beginner class which left me drenched my limbs flailing and a thirst for more knowledge of traditional Guinea dance and the drumming was off the hook. I must say that I was truly left satisfied. Here is the info and a taste of Ismael's skills. Hope to see you in class.

Here we Go!!! XMAS!!!!!

Like I said this blog will be about anything and everything that I want to post.

So!!! here we are the end of 2009. As we reflect on the year passing the things that we promise to change in our lives or just simply thank God for another year of living. I can't help but to be excited as I changed the channels and found that my favorite Xmas story was on. It was at the end and I was hoping that just maybe, maybe it would repeat, just like the do on X-mas eve and day. That's right you got it A Christmas Story. A Classic story about a boy that's hell bent on making sure Santa knows what he wants for Xmas and all the dramas that usually comes with all Xmas shinanagins. Here is an excerpt of one of my favorite scenes. Enjoy!!!!
